TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men’s lacrosse team placed eight student-athletes on the All-Liberty League teams, the conference has announced. Three – Keaton Ackermann, Lucas Bastarache and Zach Lukas – were picked for the First Team. JT Kelly and Matthew Gilman earned Second Team and Tom Feenstra, Quinn Fettig and Parker Smith garnered Honorable Mention.

Ole Miss basketball releases another signee. Who are they looking at now?

New basketball coach Kermit Davis recently went in-home with three-star combo guard Serrel Smith, gave his sales pitch, and still released him from his letter of intent after he came to the decision that he still wanted to explore his options (including the Rebels).

Now, another signee is wanting out after Andy Kennedy was relieved from his post as head coach.

Anthony Higgs received a release from his LOI with Ole Miss, per a source. Higgs is a 6-7 forward out of Maryland.

Robert Gillespie leaving Vols football coaching staff

KNOXVILLE — When the Tennessee football coaches introduced themselves to fans at the Tennessee Theatre in downtown Knoxville last week, two of the 10 assistants received particularly loud ovations.

The most enthusiastic reception went to former Tennessee defensive back Terry Fair, who is back with the Volunteers as the cornerbacks coach.

Then there was running backs coach Robert Gillespie, who was retained by Jeremy Pruitt after spending five years on Butch Jones’ staff.

“We love you, Robert!” one fan yelled from the audience as Gillespie took the microphone and said how fortunate he was to be getting a second opportunity to coach at Tennessee.

The Warriors made it out of the first round of the Class 4A playoffs Friday night with a convincing 35-8 win over Cordova. The last time they stuck around past the first round was in 1998.

Tucker Brown did it all for the Warriors, going 9 for 11 passing with 148 yards and a touchdown. He also totaled 17 carries for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns. Colby Scott led Wilson with four catches for 104 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Wilson head coach Scott Brown stressed the importance of the playoff win.
