I took a trip to Tennessee a few months ago, and it was one of the most fun vacations that I’ve ever had. I didn’t realize that there were so many things to see in Tennessee. Many of the places have a rich history that makes them so interesting. Here are what I consider to be places that anyone should visit when they come to Tennessee.
If you have even the least bit of interest in the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley, then you should check out Graceland. Graceland was once home to Elvis, and since his passing many years ago, it has become popular tour stop in Tennessee. Visitors can see Elvis’ magnificent collection cars and items, view his living area, and even see his music room. The Heartbreak Hotel, which is named after one of Elvis’ most famous songs, is across the street and available for tourists to stay in.
Elvis isn’t the only singer with a popular attraction in Tennessee, as Dolly Parton’s own Dollywood gets millions of visitors each year. The theme park is located in Pigeon Forge and offers entertainment for the entire family. There are roller coasters and other rides to enjoy, festivals, live concerts, and even a railroad that runs around the park. Visitors can find some nice crafts and souvenirs at the park that will make their friends wish they were having the same experience.
For those who have an interest in science, the American Museum of Science and Energy is the perfect place. The museum is located in Oak Ridge and features a look at city’s long history with nuclear energy, including the historic Manhattan Project that was responsible for the world’s first nuclear weapons, which were used in World War II. On display is a variety of information related to the project, along with weapon models and items used at the facility during its active time. There are also displays that focus on other energy forms and interactive learning areas with robots.
Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga is one of the best sights that you’ll ever see in Tennessee. You can reach the top of the mountain with the trolley cars on the Incline Railway, which spans an entire mile. The fun doesn’t stop there, as there are multiple attractions to access from the top. Ruby Falls can be reached, and it is famous for its large waterfall located entirely underground and its cave which is the deepest in America. The magnificent cliffs of Rock City are also accessible and is home to some impressive rock formations.
It’s great to hear about Tennessee, but it’s even better to see it in person. Start with the places I’ve mentioned here, and keep going to see all of the greatness that can be found only in Tennessee.
